Yomi Fabiyi Claims Mohbad’s Brother Demanded N3 Million for Controversial Video Evidence

Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has stirred new controversy surrounding the tragic death of singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. At a recent press conference in Lagos, Fabiyi alleged that Mohbad’s younger brother, Adura Aloba, demanded N3 million in exchange for a purported video showing a violent altercation between Mohbad and his wife, Wunmi, prior to his death.

Fabiyi claimed the video allegedly captured a moment when Wunmi pushed Mohbad down the stairs, leading to a neck injury that the actor suggested could be linked to the "bent neck" seen in the late singer's casket.

“At about 4:23 PM, Adura Aloba sent me a DM after listening to me for a while and reacting in the comment section. He demanded N3 million for the video,” Fabiyi said. He added that the brother sent him a three-second, partially censored clip featuring a heated argument in the background.

The actor revealed that he immediately petitioned the Lagos State Police Criminal Investigation Department, but upon his visit, he was informed that the person claiming to be Adura Aloba might have been an impersonator. This discovery, Fabiyi noted, points to a lack of coordination in the investigation into Mohbad’s death.

A Complex Web of Allegations

Mohbad’s death in September 2023 remains a deeply contentious issue. After parting ways with Marlian Music, the label owned by Naira Marley, the singer accused the label of failing to fulfill its contractual obligations. His exit was followed by publicized feuds and a viral video showing an associate of Marley, Sam Larry, physically assaulting Mohbad.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding his death have fueled speculation, with fingers pointed at Wunmi, Naira Marley, and Sam Larry. Now, Fabiyi’s allegations add another layer to the already complex narrative.

Opinions: Truth or Distraction?

The claim that someone impersonated Mohbad’s brother raises critical questions about the integrity of ongoing investigations. If true, it highlights how misinformation and exploitation can derail justice in high-profile cases. On the other hand, skeptics may question Fabiyi’s timing and motives, given the emotional weight surrounding Mohbad’s death.

While the actor’s decision to involve law enforcement is commendable, his public disclosure of these allegations could further polarize public opinion. If indeed there’s video evidence, as Fabiyi suggests, its authenticity and context must be thoroughly examined.

Justice for Mohbad: The Larger Picture

Mohbad’s death has left a void in Nigeria’s music industry and a trail of unanswered questions. While personal disputes and professional disagreements may be part of his story, the focus must remain on uncovering the truth and ensuring justice.

This latest development underscores the importance of harmonizing investigations. The police and relevant authorities must sift through layers of claims, counterclaims, and alleged impersonations to uncover the facts. Mohbad’s family, fans, and the public deserve clarity, not a prolonged saga of speculation and drama.

The Road Ahead

As more voices join the conversation about Mohbad’s death, one thing is clear: the pursuit of truth must remain uncompromised. Whether Fabiyi’s claims lead to new evidence or serve as a cautionary tale about the dangers of sensationalism, this case continues to highlight the need for accountability, transparency, and respect for the deceased.

For Mohbad’s fans, the hope remains that justice will prevail and that his legacy will be remembered for his talent and contributions to the music industry, rather than the controversies that followed him in life and death.
