Basketmouth Breaks Silence on 2Face and Annie’s Marital Drama—But Stays Out of It

Popular Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth, has finally addressed the ongoing social media frenzy surrounding 2Face and Annie Idibia’s marital crisis—but he’s making it clear that he won’t be dragged into the conversation.

Over the weekend, legendary singer 2Face Idibia stunned fans by announcing his separation from actress and wife, Annie Idibia. The news has since set social media on fire, with fans and celebrities alike weighing in on the situation.

Basketmouth’s Take: “I No Wan Get Dragged”

However, in a now-viral Instagram video, Basketmouth responded to those urging him to speak on the matter. The comedian, who went through his own high-profile divorce in 2022, made it clear that he doesn’t want to be pulled into another public controversy.

“I have been receiving lots of emails and DMs from people asking me why I don’t want to get involved in Tuface and Annie’s matter,” he said.
“I have known 2Face for 27 years and met Annie 24 years ago, but first of all, I’m not in any position to get involved because I’m not qualified at all.
“Make I no go talk the one wey go make people remember my own, con dey drag my head.
“This new year 2025, wey we just enter, I’m just trying to have an ‘undraggable’ year. Please, don’t push me.”

Opinion: A Wise Move or Dodging Responsibility?

Basketmouth’s response is both humorous and strategic. In an era where celebrities are constantly scrutinized, staying silent on personal matters might just be the best option. After all, he has experienced the weight of public opinion firsthand.

However, some might argue that as a longtime friend of the couple, does he have a duty to speak up and support them? Or is he simply making the wise decision to stay out of people’s business?

One thing is clear—Basketmouth is choosing peace over drama in 2025, and who can blame him?
