Asake Confirms Exit from YBNL, Launches Own Label ‘Giran Republic’

Nigerian music sensation, Asake, has officially confirmed his departure from Olamide’s YBNL Nation, putting an end to weeks of speculation.

Rumors had circulated that his exit was controversial, but the ‘Sungba’ hitmaker has taken a smooth approach by paying tribute to Olamide in his recent song ‘Military’, dismissing any talks of a fallout.

A New Chapter for Asake

Asake marked his independence by releasing his latest single, ‘Why Love’, under his newly established label, Giran Republic.

The singer originally signed with YBNL Nation in February 2022, a move that skyrocketed his career with back-to-back hits and a strong international presence.

In July 2022, he also signed a distribution deal with Empire, which remains intact despite his exit from YBNL.

Opinion: Is Asake Ready to Fly Solo?

Leaving YBNL signals a major step in Asake’s career, but will he be able to sustain his dominance without the influence of Olamide?

Many Nigerian artists have struggled post-label exits, while others—like Fireboy DML and Burna Boy—have thrived independently. With his unique sound and solid fan base, Asake has the potential to keep winning, but only time will tell if Giran Republic can stand tall in the industry.
