Taiwo Awoniyi Cleared to Face Newcastle, Confirms Nuno Espirito Santo
Nottingham Forest have received a significant boost ahead of their Premier League clash against Newcastle United, as manager Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed Taiwo Awoniyi is fit to feature.
The 27-year-old Nigerian striker missed Forest’s previous match against Fulham due to a head injury but has now been cleared to return, following the league’s concussion protocol. However, he will be required to wear a protective mask during the game.
“Yes, yes, it is clear on the concussion protocol,” Santo told reporters on Friday.
“So, he is available. He will have to wear a mask, but he is available.”
Opinion: A Timely Boost for Forest?
Awoniyi’s return comes at a crucial time for Nottingham Forest, who are battling to stay clear of the relegation zone. His physical presence and goal-scoring ability could prove vital against a Newcastle side known for its aggressive style of play.
The big question now is whether he will start or come off the bench. With Forest needing points, having a fully fit Awoniyi could make all the difference at St. James’ Park.
