Fabian Blu Accuses Marlian Records of Introducing Him to Hard Drugs

Nigerian singer Fabian Blu, a former signee of Naira Marley’s Marlian Records, has made shocking revelations about his time with the label, alleging that he was exposed to hard drugs, a dangerous lifestyle, and abuse.

During a candid interview with Chude Jideonwo, Fabian Blu accused the label of discrimination, physical and verbal abuse, as well as failing to pay him his royalties.

“I got introduced to drugs in Marlian Music. They were too gangster for me. I left the label the same year and month as Mohbad, and they spread rumors that I was mad,” he said.

A Troubling Pattern?

Fabian Blu’s allegations add to the growing controversy surrounding Marlian Records, especially after the tragic death of Mohbad, another former signee who also had a troubled exit from the label. Many have questioned the culture and environment within the record label, given the repeated accusations from former artists.

Fabian Blu, who joined Marlian Records in 2020 and left in 2022, managed to release only four singles before parting ways. Reflecting on his experience, he made it clear that the label's lifestyle was not one he wanted to be a part of.

The Bigger Question

The Nigerian music industry has seen several disputes between artists and record labels, with many young talents struggling to navigate contracts, royalties, and personal well-being.

With these latest accusations, the big question remains—how can the industry better protect artists from exploitation and harmful influences?
