Daniel Sturridge Backs Mohamed Salah for 2025 Ballon d’Or

Former Liverpool and Chelsea striker, Daniel Sturridge, has thrown his weight behind Mohamed Salah as a strong contender for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

Following Liverpool’s recent 2-0 victory over Manchester City, where Salah scored and assisted, Sturridge insisted that the Egyptian should be among the frontrunners for football’s most prestigious individual award.

“What Mohamed Salah is doing for Liverpool season in and season out is ridiculous, it’s mind-blowing.”

“If we are not linking him to the Ballon d’Or, then it is getting out of hand. We have to start putting him in that conversation.”

Salah’s Stunning 2024/25 Season So Far

The 31-year-old winger has been in sensational form, with:
30 goals
21 assists
38 appearances across all competitions

Despite his consistency, Salah has never finished in the top three of the Ballon d’Or rankings, peaking at 5th in 2019 and 2022.

Opinion: Does Salah Deserve the Ballon d’Or?

With Liverpool competing for multiple trophies, Salah’s Ballon d’Or chances could depend on silverware. However, with past winners like Messi and Ronaldo often judged beyond just team success, should Salah finally get his due recognition?
