Enyimba Set to Face Shooting Stars Without Key Duo Ihemekwele and Obot

Enyimba Set to Face Shooting Stars Without Key Duo Ihemekwele and Obot

Enyimba will be missing two of their key players, Ifeanyi Ihemekwele and Imo Obot, in their crucial Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 26 clash against Shooting Stars on Wednesday.

Ihemekwele, who has been one of Enyimba’s standout performers this season with five league goals, dislocated his shoulder during the Abia State Federation Cup final against Ahudiya. Meanwhile, left-back Imo Obot is still recovering from the injury he sustained in Enyimba’s 1-0 win over Rivers United in matchday 24, a game in which he scored the decisive goal with a sublime free kick.

A Tough Battle Without Key Players

Enyimba, the nine-time NPFL champions, are currently 10th on the league table with 34 points from 25 matches, while Shooting Stars sit in a commanding second place with 41 points.

Despite these setbacks, history favors The People’s Elephant, as they are unbeaten in their last six meetings with Shooting Stars. However, with Shooting Stars in excellent form, Enyimba will need to dig deep to secure a positive result without their influential duo.

Can Enyimba Overcome the Odds?

Losing two key starters ahead of a high-stakes match is never ideal, especially against a title-contending side like Shooting Stars. However, Enyimba’s pedigree and fighting spirit cannot be underestimated.

This fixture promises to be an exciting battle, and it remains to be seen if Enyimba can continue their dominance over Shooting Stars despite missing two of their most important players.
