Flying Eagles Soar Past Côte d’Ivoire in Friendly Victory

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles put on an impressive display, securing a 2-0 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in an international friendly at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Abidjan, on Wednesday.

The game remained tight until the hour mark when Nigeria was awarded a penalty after Divine Oliseh was fouled inside the box. Captain Daniel Bameiyi stepped up and confidently converted from the spot to give the Flying Eagles the lead.

Oliseh later turned goal scorer himself, doubling Nigeria’s advantage 10 minutes from time, sealing a comfortable win for the visitors.

A Test Ahead of U-20 AFCON

Both teams are using these friendlies to prepare for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, making the match a valuable test for the Flying Eagles. They will meet again on Friday at the same venue for a rematch.

Opinion: Flying Eagles Look Sharp, But Can They Maintain Momentum?

This performance showcased the tactical discipline and attacking threat of Nigeria’s U-20 team. However, consistency is key. Can the Flying Eagles replicate this dominance when it truly matters at the AFCON qualifiers?
