Naira Marley Reacts as Court Acquits Him of Mohbad’s Death Allegations
Popular Nigerian singer Naira Marley has broken his silence after a Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos, acquitted him, music promoter Sam Larry, and singer Prime Boy of complicity in the death of late singer Mohbad.
The verdict, delivered on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, comes 18 months after Mohbad's passing, a death that sparked outrage, protests, and online debates over the role Marley and his associates allegedly played.
Following viral videos of Mohbad being bullied, public outcry mounted, leading to the arrest of Naira Marley and Sam Larry in October 2023 on suspicion of their involvement in the tragedy.
However, after months of investigation, the court ruled that there was no evidence linking them to Mohbad’s death, leading to their acquittal.
Naira Marley’s First Reaction
Shortly after the ruling, Naira Marley took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his relief and gratitude, sharing a verse from the Holy Quran:
"And whoever puts all his trust in Allah, He will be enough for him. (65:3)."
Opinion: Was Justice Truly Served?
While the court's decision brings legal closure for Marley and his associates, the public remains divided. Many fans of Mohbad still believe justice has not been served, while others argue that Marley was unfairly vilified without solid proof.
As the dust settles, will this ruling finally put the Mohbad case to rest, or will it spark fresh debates about justice and accountability in Nigeria's music industry?
