Kano Pillars Strengthen Squad with Six New Signings as Transfer Window Closes
Four-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Kano Pillars, have reinforced their squad with six new additions in a bid to bolster their chances in the ongoing season.
The new recruits include defenders Dawud Ibrahim from Kebbi United and Uzogara Kennedy from Rivers United, adding depth to their backline. Meanwhile, the attack has been significantly strengthened with the arrival of Eshimitu Gomino Eya (FRSC), Hadi Mohammed Olarewanju (Bayelsa United), and Jerry Alex, who makes a return to the club after his European stint with Mosta FC and Senglea FC in Malta.
In midfield, the club has brought in Ezeh Charles on a free transfer, a player with international experience from stints at Lillestrøm SK (Norway) and FK Kom (Montenegro).
Departures and Strategic Adjustments
While the club has made significant additions, four players have also left. Usman Aminu Maidubji and Yusuf Abdullahi have been loaned out to Barau FC and Plateau United, respectively. Meanwhile, Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Anaful parted ways with the club via mutual contract termination, and striker Abdulmajeed Aminu is set to complete a move to South African side Moneni Pirates.
A Tactical Masterstroke or Desperate Gamble?
With six new faces coming in and four players leaving, Kano Pillars are clearly reshaping their squad to compete at a higher level. The question, however, is whether these changes will bring immediate success or if it will take time for the new players to gel.
The club’s recent performances suggest that defensive solidity and attacking firepower have been key concerns. The addition of experienced defenders and dynamic forwards could provide the balance needed to challenge for silverware or at least ensure a respectable finish this season.
With the transfer window now closed, all eyes will be on coach and management to see if these changes translate into results on the pitch. Will this new-look Kano Pillars squad live up to expectations, or will chemistry issues slow them down? Only time will tell.
