Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim Admits He’s “Fighting for His Job” Amid Tough Season

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that he is fighting for his job as the club navigates a difficult second half of the season.

Since taking over in November, the 40-year-old former Sporting Lisbon boss has struggled to turn things around, suffering seven defeats in 13 Premier League games, including five home losses at Old Trafford.

Despite this poor run of form, there have been no signs that his job is under immediate threat. However, Amorim himself has admitted that the club’s performance will determine everyone’s future.

"We are fighting for our jobs until the summer," Amorim said in his press conference on Friday.

"I know when I chose this profession that results come with risks. I knew when I arrived, I looked at the schedule, I looked at the squad, and I understood that changing everything in the middle of the season without new signings was a risk for a coach."

"But since day one, whether we get good results or bad results, I have a clear idea of what I want to do, and I take these risks because, in the end, I think it’s going to pay off."

A Season of Struggles for Manchester United

United’s inconsistency under Amorim has raised concerns among fans and pundits. The lack of January signings, coupled with the team’s fragile defense and struggles in attack, has made the job even more challenging.

While Amorim has been vocal about his long-term vision, football is a results-driven business, and the pressure is mounting.

Did United Take a Gamble in January?

The decision not to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window has been seen as a major risk. While other top clubs made key signings to boost their squads, United opted to stick with their current players despite clear gaps in midfield and attack.

Was this a vote of confidence in Amorim’s coaching abilities, or a miscalculated gamble? If results don’t improve, the club could face serious consequences in their quest for a top-four finish.

Final Thoughts: A Defining Period for Amorim

Ruben Amorim is undoubtedly a talented manager, but his time at United is quickly turning into a test of resilience. He believes his risks will pay off in the long run, but football doesn’t always offer that much time.

With the Premier League and cup competitions heating up, Amorim and his players must start delivering positive results, or the club may be forced to rethink their managerial decision before the summer.

Will Amorim survive the pressure and prove his critics wrong? The next few months will be crucial. ⚽🔥
