“Obsessive and Destructive” – Turkish Pundit Slams Napoli President Over Osimhen Transfer Saga
Turkish football commentator Ertem Şener has delivered a fiery critique of Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, accusing him of deliberately blocking Victor Osimhen’s permanent move to Galatasaray and derailing the careers of several footballers in the process.
According to Şener, who spoke via Habersarikirmizi, the Napoli boss is doing “everything he can to thwart the deal”, despite the €75 million offer already submitted by the Turkish champions.
“The Victor Osimhen transfer has not gone through. Galatasaray is pushing, but Napoli’s unstable president, De Laurentiis, is doing everything he can to block the deal,” Şener stated.
“He has ruined the footballing lives of many stars. He’s a completely obsessive person. I hope Galatasaray faces Napoli in the Champions League—because they’ll be ready.”
⚽ The Deal Stalemate:
Osimhen, who spent the entire 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray, impressed with his goal-scoring prowess, rekindling the fire that made him one of Europe’s top strikers. Galatasaray’s desire to secure the Nigerian forward permanently this summer is not just ambition — it’s necessity.
Yet, Napoli have remained non-committal and difficult in negotiations, stalling the process, despite Osimhen reportedly being open to the idea of continuing in Istanbul.
💭 Opinion: De Laurentiis — A Genius or a Gatekeeper?
While some may see De Laurentiis as a shrewd businessman who won’t let top assets go cheaply, many in the football world, including Şener, see a pattern of rigid, self-serving management. From Kalidou Koulibaly to Dries Mertens, Napoli have been accused of mishandling exits.
Osimhen deserves clarity — and if a club is willing to drop €75 million and offer the striker regular Champions League football, why block it? Is it ego, valuation disagreement, or just De Laurentiis being De Laurentiis?
🔥 The Bigger Picture:
This saga could ripple into a deeper rivalry. Should the UEFA Champions League draw fatefully pair Napoli and Galatasaray, expect fireworks on and off the pitch. For now, fans are glued to updates — will Osimhen finally get his permanent move, or will Napoli’s stubbornness prevail?
🗣️ Sound Off:
Is De Laurentiis protecting Napoli’s interest, or is he holding Osimhen hostage in the name of business?
