Shakira Hospitalized in Peru, Cancels Sunday Show Due to Stomach Issue
Colombian pop sensation, Shakira, has been hospitalized in Peru due to an abdominal issue, forcing her to cancel her scheduled Sunday performance in Lima.
Shakira’s Statement
The singer announced the news on Sunday via social media, expressing her regret over the last-minute cancellation:
“I’m sorry to let you all know that last night I had to go to the emergency room for an abdominal issue and I’m currently hospitalised. The doctors taking care of me have let me know that I’m not well enough to perform tonight,” she wrote.
Fans Disappointed But Hopeful
Shakira arrived in Lima on Saturday, marking her first performance in Peru in over a decade. Upon her arrival, hundreds of enthusiastic fans welcomed her at the airport.
Despite her current health concerns, she remains optimistic about her recovery, adding:
“I hope to be better by tomorrow and that they release me from hospital as soon as possible to be able to put on the show that I’ve prepared for you all.”
Upcoming Performance and Career Highlights
Her next scheduled show in Lima is set for Monday, as part of her ongoing tour, which kicked off last week in Brazil.
Shakira, known for global hits like "Hips Don’t Lie" with Wyclef Jean and "La Tortura" with Alejandro Sanz, has been a major force in bridging Latin music with the English-speaking market.
We wish her a speedy recovery! 🙏💙
