Wilfried Ndidi Bemoans Leicester’s “Unlucky” Defeat to Arsenal—But Is That the Full Story?

Wilfried Ndidi Bemoans Leicester’s “Unlucky” Defeat to Arsenal—But Is That the Full Story?

Leicester City midfielder Wilfried Ndidi believes his team was unlucky to lose against Arsenal after conceding two late goals at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes, who were holding their own for much of the game, saw substitute Mikel Merino come off the bench to score twice, handing them a third consecutive defeat and pushing them deeper into relegation trouble. Leicester now sit 19th in the Premier League, just two points from safety.

Reflecting on the loss, Ndidi told Leicester TV:

“It was a difficult game. We stayed on till they scored the first goal. It’s quite a tough game but we did well, to be honest. We needed to because we were playing against a top team.”

The Nigerian midfielder insisted his side remained in the fight, but luck was simply not on their side.

“We knew we were still in the game; we were just unlucky we conceded the first goal. We were still in it because we were together, stayed compact. They are very good at keeping the ball, positioning, and tried to get at us.”

Unlucky or Just Not Good Enough?

While Ndidi’s comments reflect the team’s fighting spirit, the reality is that Leicester continue to struggle against stronger opposition. The loss against Arsenal was their 14th defeat of the season, and with relegation looming, questions must be asked about whether the team is doing enough to survive.

Leicester has conceded 41 goals this season, highlighting defensive frailties that need urgent fixing. The Foxes' upcoming fixtures could define their survival chances, and luck alone won’t be enough—they need results.

What do you think? Was Leicester just unlucky against Arsenal, or is relegation becoming inevitable? Let’s discuss!
