Singer Natalie Okri Warns: "Some Human Hair Wigs Are Sacrifices to Deities"
British singer Natalie Okri has sparked debate with her recent claims that some human hair wigs originate from spiritual sacrifices and could bring bad luck to those who wear them.
In a viral video shared on her Instagram page, Okri explained why she has stopped wearing wigs and human hair extensions, citing spiritual concerns.
“Some human hairs are sacrificed to demons, deities, and unknown gods,” she claimed.
The Connection Between Human Hair and Spiritual Beliefs
According to Okri, in some Asian countries, women shave their heads at temples as a form of spiritual cleansing, believing it helps them purge bad luck, poverty, and negativity.
She further alleged that these sacrificed hairs are often collected, processed, and sold to big vendors, eventually making their way to global beauty markets, where many Black women unknowingly purchase them.
“Those working in the temple take the hair and sell it off to the European market or to different big vendors like Ali Baba, Ali Express, and different brands,” she explained.
“And we, Black women, buy these hairs for hundreds of pounds. We are wearing someone’s bad luck on our heads.”
Okri also emphasized that, as a Christian, she feels such practices go against her faith, as she views these deities as demons.

Her statement has stirred mixed reactions across social media. While some people support her stance, believing hair can carry spiritual energy, others have dismissed her claims as superstition.
