Fidelis Ilechukwu Reacts as Rangers End Remo Stars’ Unbeaten Run
Rangers International head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has expressed delight after his team secured a 2-1 victory over league leaders Remo Stars in their NPFL Matchday 24 clash on Sunday.
A Big Win for Rangers
The victory at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu marked the end of Remo Stars’ nine-game unbeaten run and served as revenge for Rangers, who lost 2-1 to the Sky Blue Stars earlier this season.
"We are happy with the three points. I knew it was going to be a tough game against the league leaders, the best team in Nigeria at the moment. Beating them and ending their unbeaten run, as well as defeating my friend, the assistant coach of the Super Eagles, is a big deal," Ilechukwu told reporters after the game.
Fighting Through Injuries
Despite struggling with an injury-ravaged squad, Rangers delivered a solid performance to close the gap on the table.
"We knew how important this game was. Remo Stars were on 48 points while we had 35 before the match. I told the players that winning would prove to ourselves, not anyone else, that we can survive despite our injuries," Ilechukwu added.
With this victory, Rangers gain momentum as they push for a strong finish in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
