Akwa United’s Chijioke Alakwe Ruled Out for Four Weeks with Shoulder Injury

Akwa United’s Chijioke Alakwe Ruled Out for Four Weeks with Shoulder Injury

Akwa United forward, Chijioke Alakwe, is set to be sidelined for approximately four weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury during the club’s State FA Cup semi-final clash against Godswill Akpabio United.

The former Sheikh Jamal (Bangladesh) striker, who has netted five goals this season for Kennedy Boboye’s side, is now expected to make a comeback in early March.

Blow for Akwa United’s Survival Hopes

The injury is a big setback for Akwa United, who are battling relegation in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The Promise Keepers are currently languishing in 19th place with just 24 points from 25 matches.

Their next challenge will be an away fixture against Kano Pillars on Wednesday (Matchday 26).

Opinion: Can Akwa United Survive the Drop?

With Alakwe out, the club faces an uphill battle to climb out of the relegation zone. Boboye will now rely on other attacking options to deliver the goals needed to keep Akwa United in the NPFL.
