Niger Tornadoes Find New Home in Lafia After Stadium Ban
Niger Tornadoes have officially adopted the Lafia City Stadium as their home ground for the remainder of the season after their original stadium, Bako Kontagora Stadium, was banned from hosting matches by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Lafia City Stadium, home to Nasarawa United, will now serve as the Tornadoes’ base after their initial alternative, Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, was also disapproved by the league body.
This means Tornadoes will play their first home match in Lafia against Enyimba this weekend. Before that, they will face Lobi Stars in Bauchi on Wednesday for a matchday 27 encounter.
Opinion: Can Tornadoes Overcome This Setback?
This stadium ban is a major setback for Niger Tornadoes, as teams often rely on home advantage to secure crucial points. Switching venues mid-season can disrupt team rhythm and fan support.
However, adapting quickly to Lafia could turn the challenge into an opportunity. If they settle in well, they might still maintain strong home performances despite the relocation.
The big question remains: Can Niger Tornadoes thrive in their new temporary home? Or will this stadium switch hurt their season ambitions?
