Court Acquits Naira Marley, Others in Mohbad’s Death Case

Court Acquits Naira Marley, Others in Mohbad’s Death Case

In a significant ruling, the Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos, has acquitted Nigerian singer Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, in the controversial death of Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad).

Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje ruled that Naira Marley, music promoter Sam Larry (Samson Balogun), Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy), and Mohbad’s former manager Opere Babatunde had no case to answer regarding the singer’s tragic passing.

However, the court confirmed that the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) will proceed with legal action against Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad shortly before his death.

Additionally, Ayobami Sadiq, one of Mohbad’s friends, is set to face charges for reckless and negligent acts under Section 251(e) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

A Shocking Turn of Events

The news of Naira Marley’s acquittal has sparked mixed reactions from the public. While some fans of the artist celebrated his legal victory, Mohbad’s supporters and family members are still demanding justice for the late singer.

The case, which has been a subject of intense debate, gained nationwide attention after Mohbad’s sudden and mysterious death on September 12, 2023. Many believed foul play was involved, leading to public outcry and multiple arrests.

What’s Next?

With Ogedengbe and Sadiq set to face trial, many are hoping that the remaining legal proceedings will bring clarity to the tragic circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing.

For now, the acquittal of Naira Marley and others raises more questions than answers, and the quest for justice remains ongoing.
