Portable Mocks Olamide Over Rumored Fallout with Asake

Portable Mocks Olamide Over Rumored Fallout with Asake

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has taken another jab at a former benefactor—this time, Olamide.

In a viral video shared on social media, Portable mocked the YBNL boss over his rumored fallout with Asake, questioning why Olamide did not sign him instead.

Portable, who rose to fame after Olamide featured on his 2021 hit "Zazu", expressed frustration that the rapper only gave him a verse instead of offering him a record deal. He also claimed that instead of signing him, Olamide "snatched" his producer, dancer, and promoter Kogbagidi.

"Olamide Baddo, if you had asked me to sign to your record label, I would have gladly accepted it," Portable lamented.

"Instead of signing me, you snatched my producer, dancer, and promoter from me."

He went further to compare himself to Asake, stating:

"The person you helped no send you again. You only gave me a verse, and I’m still more grateful than Asake, whom you gave everything."

"Promote me the way you promoted Asake and see if I won’t progress more than him."

A Pattern of Public Outbursts

This is not the first time Portable has lashed out at past collaborators. He has previously called out Poco Lee, Kogbagidi, Davido, and Skepta, often accusing them of not doing enough for his career.

While some fans applaud his confidence, others believe his constant grievances could hurt his career in the long run.

Olamide’s Legacy vs. Portable’s Expectations

Olamide is widely respected for mentoring and elevating street-hop artists, having played a key role in the rise of Fireboy DML, Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, and Asake.

However, signing an artist is a long-term investment, requiring not just talent but also discipline and strategic branding—qualities Portable has often struggled with due to his frequent controversies.

Portable’s Perspective: Feeling Overlooked or Seeking Attention?

Portable's complaint raises an important question: Did he truly deserve a YBNL record deal, or is this just another attempt to stay in the spotlight?

Olamide’s collaboration on "Zazu" undeniably boosted Portable’s career, and many believe he should be grateful and capitalize on the opportunity rather than complain. Others argue that his street credibility and raw energy make him a strong candidate for greater industry support.

Final Thoughts: Portable’s Next Move

While Portable remains a social media sensation, his frequent rants could alienate potential supporters in the industry. If he truly wants to reach Asake’s level, he may need to focus more on consistency, growth, and professionalism rather than social media drama.

What do you think? Is Portable being unfair, or does he have a valid point? Let’s discuss below! 👇🏽
