TikToker Sea King Re-Arrested for Cyberbullying Pastor Adeboye

Popular Nigerian TikToker, Olumide Ogunsanwo, aka Sea King, has reportedly been re-arrested at the court premises in Lagos.

The social media personality was taken into custody on Thursday over allegations of cyberbullying the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, during a live TikTok session in December 2024.

Sea King was originally at the Ogba Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for a separate trial when police operatives re-arrested him on fresh charges. He was then taken to the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja before being flown to Abuja for further interrogation.

Why Was He Arrested?

According to human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, the Federal Investigation Department (FID), led by DIG Dasuki Galandanchi, confirmed that the re-arrest was linked to his alleged defamation of Pastor Adeboye.

Sowore, who was present with lawyers Barrister Deji Adeyanju and Marshal D. F. Abubakar, shared in an X post:

“To our surprise, they disclosed that Olumide’s recent ordeal resulted from alleged cyberbullying against Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of RCCG, in a TikTok session.”

A History of Controversial Arrests

Sea King has been on the police radar since December 2024, when he was first arrested for allegedly insulting President Bola Tinubu and Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in viral TikTok videos.

At the time, the police accused him of cyberstalking, treason, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. He was later granted bail set at N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
