Portable Reportedly on the Run as Ogun State Government Arraigns Nine Associates for Assault
Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, is reportedly on the run following the arraignment of nine of his associates by the Ogun State Government on charges of assaulting government officials.
The suspects appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, facing a five-count charge related to armed violence, obstruction of duty, and intent to kill.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, the incident occurred at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Sango-Ota when officials from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development attempted to seal Portable’s business premises—the Odogwu Bar and an uncompleted hotel—over illegal development without proper permits.
The police prosecutor, Sunday Ekong, revealed that the singer and his associates attacked the officials, obstructing them from carrying out their lawful duties. The suspects were said to be armed with cutlasses and guns, allegedly threatening the officials' lives.
Portable’s Associates Arraigned, Granted Bail
The nine accused individuals, including 19-year-olds Oluwaseun Ayenuwa and Precious Ohiegebo, pleaded not guilty to all charges.
In her ruling, Justice O.M. Somefun granted them bail set at N5 million each, requiring sureties who are licensed bond agents registered with the Ogun State Government.
The case has been adjourned until March 17 for further hearing.
Portable’s Reaction: A History of Defiance
Portable, known for his rebellious persona, had earlier accused the government officials of unfairly targeting his business, claiming they were harassing his customers and vandalizing his property.
This is not the first time the singer has been in trouble with authorities. From public clashes with law enforcement to multiple legal battles, Portable has built a reputation for defiance and controversy.
Final Thought: Legal Drama or Genuine Persecution?
The case raises several questions:
🔹 Did Portable and his crew truly obstruct justice, or was this an overreach by officials?
🔹 Will Portable turn himself in or remain on the run?
🔹 How will this affect his music career and public image?
One thing is clear—Portable's legal troubles are far from over.
