Erica Nlewedim Claps Back at Critics for Flaunting Her Father Despite His Absence

Erica Nlewedim Claps Back at Critics for Flaunting Her Father Despite His Absence

Nigerian actress and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Erica Nlewedim, has responded to online backlash after she attended a movie premiere with her father, whom she previously revealed was absent from her life until she became famous.

Erica shared a video of herself and her father at the event, showing him exchanging pleasantries with other celebrities while attending as her plus one. She captioned it:

"Went to a premiere with my dad."

However, this innocent post triggered mixed reactions online. One X user accused Erica of being "male-centered," implying that despite her father’s absence in her upbringing, she now flaunts him publicly, while it was her mother who took full responsibility for raising her.

The tweet read:

"Her dad was absent growing up but guess who she flaunts now? Him! Her mum literally raised her and was financially responsible for her but cause of how male-centered she is, she just had to."

Erica’s Fiery Response 🔥

Not one to stay silent, Erica clapped back at the critic, defending her decision to post about her father. She pointed out that she has always celebrated her mother and refused to be pressured into holding grudges forever.

"There’s always one fool, like I’ve not been posting my mom all the holidays, the one time I post my dad I’m male-centered."

She further slammed the idea that she should remain bitter towards her father:

"Left to you, I’ll be a bitter witch holding grudges till he dies and then I’ll say had I known! I think your parents did a poor job because look at how you think! Eww!"

A Complicated Father-Daughter Relationship

During her time in the Big Brother Naija house, Erica opened up about being raised solely by her mother and later reconnecting with her father through social media. Though their relationship was initially strained, they eventually reconnected, and in 2020, he publicly referred to her as “the most beautiful girl in Africa.”

Opinion: Can People Evolve in Their Relationships?

Erica’s situation highlights a deeper conversation about family dynamics, forgiveness, and public perception.

💭 Should people be criticized for reconnecting with an absent parent?
💭 Is it fair to assume Erica values her father more than her mother simply because she posted him once?
