“This Generation is Finished” — Zic Saloma Slams Trolls for Mocking His Cancer-Battling Mother

“This Generation is Finished” — Zic Saloma Slams Trolls for Mocking His Cancer-Battling Mother

Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor Zic Saloma has expressed deep disappointment over the cruel comments made about his mother after he shared a clip of her online.

The actor, whose real name is Aloma Isaac Junior, revealed that his over 70-year-old mother — who is currently battling cancer and recovering from chemotherapy — wanted to attend the premiere of his new movie. While many fans celebrated her strength and grace, others took to social media to mock her appearance, particularly her nose, and label her as ugly.

🗣️ Zic Saloma Responds: “This Generation is Finished”

Heartbroken and dismayed, Zic didn’t hold back in his response.

💬 “I saw some comments saying my mum’s nose is big, asking me, ‘Why you no do surgery for her?’ People were saying my mother is ugly... You’re saying this about a woman who is over 70 years old, fighting a terminal illness like cancer.”

He condemned the insensitivity and lack of values among many young people today:

“Trust me, comments do not get to me. I knew this generation was bad, but I did not know this generation was finished.”

“People who reason like this, how can they vote for a good government? How can there not be tribalism? How can there not be religious sentiments?”

While acknowledging and thanking those who dropped positive and encouraging comments, Zic admitted that the volume of negativity — even from people living abroad — was shocking and deeply troubling.

🧠 Opinion: Social Media Has a Mirror Problem

Zic Saloma’s experience reflects a growing problem: many hide behind screens to spew cruelty, forgetting that real people — with real struggles — are behind the content they consume.

Mocking an elderly woman fighting cancer is not just a lack of empathy — it's a failure of basic human decency. This isn’t about celebrity or clout; it’s about who we are becoming as a society.

When tasteless comments outweigh kind ones, it’s time to ask: Are we building a society that uplifts or destroys?

📢 Do you think it’s time for stricter controls on online bullying in Nigeria? What’s your message to trolls who mock others' pain?
