Governor Fintiri Flags Off 2025 Adamawa Governor’s Cup

The much-anticipated 2025 Governor’s Cup has officially kicked off in Adamawa State, marking its return after more than a decade.

The tournament, inaugurated on Monday at the Football Pitch of the Federal College of Education, Yola, saw Yola North LGA claim victory over Guyuk LGA in the opening match of the weeklong event.

Government’s Commitment to Youth Development

Representing Governor Ahmadu Fintiri at the opening ceremony, Chief of Staff Dr. Edgar Amos encouraged the 21 participating LGAs to embrace fair play. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, especially in sports and entrepreneurship.

The event was graced by state executive council members, local government chairmen, and football enthusiasts.

Praise for the Tournament’s Revival

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Wali Yakubu, alongside ALGON Chairman, Suleiman Gangkuba, applauded the revival of the Governor’s Cup, highlighting its importance in youth engagement and talent development.

The competition is expected to unearth new football talents and promote grassroots sports development in Adamawa State.
