Ruud van Nistelrooy Hails Wilfred Ndidi’s Leadership in FA Cup Clash Against Manchester United
Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has showered praise on Wilfred Ndidi, highlighting the midfielder’s leadership and impact in their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.
Ndidi, making his first appearance since suffering a muscle injury in December, played a crucial role for the Foxes before being substituted for Harry Winks in the 58th minute.
Despite Leicester’s exit from the FA Cup, Van Nistelrooy was full of admiration for Ndidi’s performance and leadership qualities:
“You’ve seen the game, the way he played, the way he lifted the team, on the ball, off the ball. His performance was excellent, but also his leadership,” Van Nistelrooy told Leicester City Mercury.
He further emphasized the Nigerian international’s influence beyond just his skills on the pitch:
“Not only the captain’s armband he wore, but the way he led the team, the way he demanded from his surroundings, coaching, talking, preventing situations from occurring.”

At 28, Ndidi remains a crucial figure in Leicester’s squad, providing defensive solidity and leadership in midfield. His absence due to injury had been a big blow to the team, and his return is a huge boost as the Foxes push for Premier League promotion.
